RAD FRU – Down and Dirty Rock with an O.D of decibels and groove!
Web: https://www.facebook.com/radfru
Rad Fru is a London based Rock tandem with 'Bisk' on the drums, and singer / guitarist 'Gramps' up front. Yes, this is a 2-piece only but they do sound like a full band, and produce at least as much noise! They sticker their music as 'Nuclear Powered Rock', and that basically sums it all up... These guys don't play it clean, but do play it well... The band has released their debut-single 'Tempting Meat' / 'Metal Bar' through Caledonia Records in February and is also available at iTunes. 'Tempting Meat' is an instant groovster that catapults you back to the early 70's Rock sounds, complete with handclap and a hint of Lep Zep thrown in there vibe-wise! This moderately paced Rocker is a true riff-monster that is smeared with juicy guitar licks and fillers over its pumping beat. The guitar sound on this one just vomits volume and is harmonized with a grinding feedback that has 'overpowered' written all over in a most pleasant, Bluesed-up fashion. The vocals have bit of an Alternative edge with a laid-back appearance that gives the whole thing bit of a 90's Stoner feel. Flipside tune 'Metal Bar' is a Blues-powered stomper that Rocks from start to finish. From the moment the riff snarls through the speakers you know that this is going to be down and dirty, or 'Ugly and Sweating' as the band likes to tag it. This tune is about two thirds a guitar thing, with the regular toned vocals complimenting the Blues element that runs through this song. RAD FRU simply nailed it, cranking out a sticky set of compact songs with major impact and groove... If there was such thing as the Jimi Hendrix College, these guys would be the best in class... It won't be long before this duo plays the major festivals and hits the charts... Awesome stuff...

LARA AIMEE – Elegant Beauty from The Netherlands
web: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lara-Aimee-Official/109022845843996
Lara Aimee is a Dutch Model that got into modelling through some selfies that she posted in 2009. Even regarding the fact that these images were experimental and home-made, professional photographers picked up on the qualities of Lara, and in a fast forward mode she quickly made an appearance in the Fetish scene. Lara's work moves in between Fetish and high-end Fashion, with a liking for the more edge looks, but equally for all-out feminine shoots with lingerie and the colour black as her personal favourite. Over the years, Lara has created an extensive portfolio with a host of photographers and designers, some of which include Pandora Deluxe, Lovely Latex, Burning Heart Latex, Fantastic Rubber etc. She has also appeared in publications such as 'Marquis', 'BeDeSeMe', 'Focus', and 'Quest', as well as she has done numerous runway shows in both the Fetish and Fashion scene. Lara is also the second half of the tandem-artistry know as MEW-CHIEL. Together with photographer Me-Chiel, the team does Fetish and Fun shoots, and Lara does both the post-production work and retouching, as well as the Make-Up and styling. Lara feels right at home in the Fetish Fashion scene which she values for the nice people she has met, and places she has been able to visit along the way.... Lara continues to expand her work as a Model with some major shoots in the pipeline so stay tuned for more elegant beauty from the Netherlands!

GARY STANLEY – Tattoo Artist Extraordinaire!
https://www.facebook.com/gary.stanley.5 www.paintedladytattoostudio.com Birmingham / U.K. based Gary Stanley is a true Tattoo-master and his amazing portfolio testifies to this, decorating skin with painting-like works of Art. Gary started his career over 15 years ago, after being turned down for Art College! This did not stop him to take on his creative skills and develop these as a Tattoo Artist of a prime level! Manic Mosh Magazine did an interview to spotlight this amazing Artist; enjoy! |
Gary, when did you start as a Tattoo Artist, and how did that come about?
I started my tattooing apprenticeship at a studio in Birmingham called "Micky Sharpz's around 16 years ago. I was getting tattooed there quite often and at the time I was painting leather jackets for friends, a couple which they saw when I came in and I was asked if tattooing was something I would like to do and it when from there.
What is your specialty / favourite style?
I really love Japanese Tattooing but lately I've been doing some realism Marvel stuff and have really enjoyed do that. I think I have my own way of doing Tattooing and it shows in most of the styles I do. That is always what I aimed to do, I don't want to tattoo like anyone else, I just want to tattoo like me.
What is your background as an Artist?
My background as an Artist isn't much really. As I mentioned earlier, I always liked to draw and I painted jackets and stuff for friends but that's really it! I did try to go to Art College but I was turned down in the interview! When I was waiting to go in I knew I was in trouble as there were landscape oil paintings being clutched by other sweaty handed students and there was me with sketches of Marvel heros! O well.... But I do think if your meant to do something, it will find a way!
Do you design Tattoo Art yourself?
Yes I prefer to draw one-off designs for all my clients but if they really want a flash design, and have their heart set on it, that's cool, but that is really rare especially as I am now at a Custom Studio. But I won't copy other peoples tattoos directly, I think that is wrong. I will look at the concept of the design but always do it in my style and way.
Do you also do freehand?
I do do freehand quite a lot, but I do prefer to pre-draw the focus points first if possible and freehand the background as I feel I can give the client a better tattoo this way. But yes, I will freehand if need be like at conventions etc.
What equipment do you use?
I build tattoo machines so I mainly use my own stuff, but I do have a old Micky Sharpz's liner and a great Dunebug machine too but I like to use my own machines really. It wasn't something I was taught to do, I just figured it out myself; I just wanted a greater understanding of what I was using everyday and it went from there.
At the moment you are working at Painted Lady Tattoo, what is your role there?
Painted Lady is owned by the very talented Dawnii Fantana. I just work there. At this moment I don't really want the responsibility of my own studio I just want to concentrate on my tattooing, machine building and painting.
What are the inspirational sources / Tattoo Artists that have inspired you?
I have a wide range of Tattooers that inspire me, from Mike Rubendall and Henning Jorgensen to Dave Lum and Dave Foxx. I like to keep a open mind on Tattooing so as I once was told "you can learn from every artist", and that's what I try to do.
You also display your skills in other formats outside Tattooing, such as those amazing one-off skateboard decks...
I love to paint but I do have very little time at the moment. The most recent paintings are indeed those skate decks; they are limited edition but all have different quotes from the films on. It is really fun finding the cool and funny quotes for them. I do wish I had more time to paint....
Anything else you'd like to add Gary?
Thanks for this interview and if anyone is at a Tattoo Show and sees my stall, please come say hi and have a chat; It's always good to meet new people...

JESSIE TJ – Model, Performer and Make-Up Artist
web: https://www.facebook.com/JessieTJpinup?fref=ts
Jessie TJ is a Belgium based Model and Dancer / Performer that started early in life to pave the path that would lead her to where she is now. Attending the 'Showbizz-school' as a starting platform with classes in Beauty, Entertainment, Dance, Theater, Vocals, and reading music, Jessie followed this up with a course and qualification as a 'Mannequin' / Model. She started modelling in 2000, but it was through her dance and related activities that Jessie caught the attention of agencies that put her forward as 'the face' of various products, TV-shows, clubs etc. In 2007 she was one of the faces from girlsband named Cru5h 5. At present, Jessie is a regular performer at the Noxx Nightclub in Antwerp / Belgium, and has developed an impressive CV that includes appearances in movies, TV-shows, music-videos, and photo-shoots for various brands and magazines. Alongside her fire-spitting performances with The Badchix, modelling and performing, Jessie still puts her experience as a Make-Up Artist into practice, both for her own shoots but also for the industry. Jessie has now set her goals for international recognition which should be well within reach gauging her portfolio and overall performance as an Artist and Model!
STARRYID, 'The Talent Pool' ( http://www.starryid.com ) conducted a keyword-interview with Jessie after she triumphed in
the Manic Mosh / STARRYID photo-competition in January, but first here's an introduction in her own words;
I'm a dancer and love being on a stage entertaining people; I love music and dancing makes me feel alive! I'm also a make up artist; I worked for Mac Cosmetic for 2 years. Spitting fire is also a talent of mine! I've been dancing since I was 16 years old. I made my contacts along the way. Agencies saw my pictures on Facebook, or saw me dancing and asked me to be the face of their club, TV campaign, or clothing line...
Alt T.J.
Alternative Modelling is a branch of the Modelling industry that features Models who do not conform to Mainstream ideals of beauty. The Models have their own personal style (Tattoos, coloured hair, piercings and special clothes, Pin Up, Fetish etc).
Tattooed Models
My favourite Tattooed Models are definitely Raquel Reed, and Kelly Eden.
Put Me In A Cage
I'm really scared of sharks ! So I want to swim with white sharks. But with me in a underwater cage! I Just want to see them in real, and close to me and to and overcome my deepest fears. In 2014 I really hope to have more modelling work around the world. I want to travel! I really want to work in America, London - meet new people Oh - and get more tattoos !
Inky Passion
I believe in passion in everything you do; Do it with passion and love or not at all...
Creativity
My opinion on creativity is this: Always be yourself. Be different and unique. Work hard and you will succeed. Be productive in your own unique way. Creativity means the ability to develop a new object or a new idea...
My Tattoos
My Marilyn Monroe tattoo is my favourite! I love her and she made an impact on me when I was little. I watched her movies and looked at her pictures. My tattoo of her looks so a real picture and I'm very proud of it. My next tattoo is going to be a lipstick diamonds necklace. I want to finish my full sleeve too!
Carpe Diem!
For me, you have to learn to focus only on the present. The past is unchangeable so it is futile to reflect on it unless you are making sure you do not repeat past mistakes. The future is but a result of your actions today. So learn from the past to do better in the present so that you can succeed in the future.
